don't leave them out in the cold
brighten a kids' winter
On any given cold, winter night in South Australia over 22,500 babies and kids are living below the poverty line. Struggling parents are unable to keep the heater running when the temperature is low or buy a warm winter blanket for their newborn baby.
Treasure Boxes is here to ensure these families have the childhood essentials they need. We provide them with warm clothing, winter bedding and nursery equipment to keep their little ones safe and sound. We reduce the distress and financial hardship experienced when a parent has to choose between buying food or a blanket for their children, allowing them comfort and breathing space to focus on getting through a difficult time.
2020 has been a tough year for everyone, but it has hit families especially hard. Families have lost once-reliable income, and the number of vulnerable women and children fleeing domestic violence has hit an all-time high. We’ve seen a huge increase for calls for support this year, proving just how difficult it’s been. By June last year, we had supported 100 families. At the same time this year, we’ve already supported 273, with hundreds more still to come.
Brighten a kids' winter by providing them with a year's supply of clothes and warm winter bedding.
Donations above $2 are tax deductible.
We help people like Mary*, a single mother with 4 kids under the age of 10. With one newborn in a neonatal unit she was also dealing with the stress of unemployment and poverty, and desperately needed help.
Treasure Boxes provided her with warm clothes for the kids, winter bedding and nursery items to help her get set up for when her baby came home. Now Mary can focus on the joys of raising a newborn, knowing her young ones have a warm bed to sleep in on cold winter nights.
