Our mission at Treasure Boxes is to ease the anxiety and stress placed on young children and their families affected by hardship. Life can be incredibly stressful for families struggling to make ends meet.
Treasure Boxes has sadly seen a huge rise in the amount of families, single parents, and caregivers here in Adelaide who are in crisis mode after the sudden rise in cost of living. And in most cases, babies and children are forced to go without essential products like nappies and don’t have access to basic things they need to keep them safe, warm and clean.
Our doors are open direct to the general public to ensure struggling SA families can immediately access basic childhood essentials (quality pre-loved items) for their babies, children and teens. Through this new service, we hope to provide enormous relief for hundreds of children and families.
Our Family Support Program will provide help for families who need a helping hand and offer items to families with a current Health Care card for a small service fee to provide the goods, saving families hundreds of dollars and most importantly – reducing the risk of falling deeper into financial hardship.
Families with children under 18 years of age will be able to access this service. The Family Support Service provides direct access to quality pre-loved essential items for your babies and children.
Health Care Card To be eligible to access the Family Support Service, you will need a current Health Care Card and will be asked to provide it when presenting to collect your order. You can access items for immediate family members only as well as emergency foster care or similar circumstances. If you do not have a Health Care Card due to reasons outside of your control (such as having a Bridging Visa, temporary care of a child, change in Centrelink benefits, etc.) please simply let us know on the form below and we will consider it on a case by case basis.
Collection Once you place your request, you can arrange to collect at one of our two locations; Edwardstown or Davoren Park.
Payment You will be required to pay for your items upon collection. Please bring along your credit or debit card. Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash on site.

We know families are financially struggling now more than ever. Every year we see an increased number of referrals for families come through. With the need to access support for so many vulnerable children and families growing by the day, Treasure Boxes is taking action by enabling Health Care card holders to access direct, immediate support without the need for an agency referral. This is a big undertaking for Treasure Boxes and has the potential to provide enormous relief for many children and families all year round.
The new direct Family Support program makes accessing vital essentials for families with children easier and more affordable, with the aim to ease financial hardship and increase wellbeing for vulnerable children in SA.
How Does it Work?
Members of the public who have a valid Health Care card will be able to submit a request to Treasure Boxes, at least 2 days prior to the requested collection. They will be able to purchase vital supplies valued between $15 and $25. Quality preloved and new essential items such as clothing, shoes, bedding, toy and school packs can be purchased for the same cost as the PAYG model.

What does this mean?
By removing the need for an agency referral, we can significantly improve access to support for many financially struggling families. The economic conditions and the current rental crisis mean that the need is greater than ever, and we want to remove any barriers that children and families may face as they access support. All families experiencing crisis who need greater care or cannot afford the items under the Family Support Program can reach out to their case worker who can help support their family needs and place a referral on their behalf.
