who we help

Treasure Boxes opened in May 2015 and is a South Australian based not-for-profit children’s charity. We provide new and good quality pre-loved items for newborns to 18 year olds, pregnancy essentials, and some items for parents and caregivers.

Through providing essential children’s goods to families at risk of poverty, homelessness, and domestic violence, we alleviate severe hardship, financial burden, reduce the risk of poverty and homelessness, ease trauma and provide hope to those most vulnerable.

Treasure Boxes vital service distributes more than 15000 items annually to families all across SA via 170 support agencies and our new direct Family Support Program.

FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM

Sadly, we’ve seen a huge rise in the amount of families, single parents, and caregivers here in Adelaide who are in crisis mode after the sudden rise in cost of living. And in most cases, babies and children are forced to go without essential products like nappies and don’t have access to basic things they need to keep them safe, warm and clean.

Our doors are open direct to the general public to ensure financially struggling SA families can immediately access basic childhood essentials (quality pre-loved items) for their babies, children and teens. Through this new service, we hope to provide enormous relief for hundreds of children and families.

Our Family Support Program provides help for families who need a helping hand and offer items to families with a current Health Care card for a small service fee to provide the goods, saving families hundreds of dollars and most importantly – reducing the risk of falling deeper into financial hardship.

SUPPORT AGENCIES

Treasure Boxes works with 170 support agencies across South Australia to ensure that every child has access to the essential items they need during times of crisis.

Families in crisis who need support can reach out to their support agency, caseworker, school or nurse to place a referral on their behalf.

Support agencies must be a registered member of Treasure Boxes to access our service. Membership is free to join and takes less than 5 minutes to apply. Support workers can then select the items their client needs such as, linen, homewares, nursery equipment, clothing, shoes, toiletries and toys etc. Generally, the service is collected by the support worker from our Edwardstown or Davoren Park warehouse or we can arrange to send the goods out to the family.
